    Description

Christmas is coming and you'll need this for the rum sauce!
Offering a Meriden silver plated brandy or rum sauce pitcher server on a stand from the 1890s.
This unusual antique tableware serving piece consists of the 4" tall (including handle) sauce pitcher and the fitted 7-1/2" tall footed handled server tray.
The pitcher has a gold wash interior and it was probably used to pour a brandy or rum sauce for desserts or cakes.
The carrier tray with fitted lip for the pitcher,  has a Xylonite (name of an early celluloid) handle and each piece has the Meriden Britannia Co. scales mark.
They were in business 1852-1898 in Hamilton, Canada (main company was located in the US) and it has an 065 pattern or style number.
I have only seen one other of this set, but my Grandmother had an  item similar to this when she served rum sauce.
It is in excellent condition for its age with no breaks, corrosion, or repairs. There is a small dent on the bottom rim of the pitcher that is hard to see except from the underside.
There is some dark areas on each side of the pitcher with a small dent near the monogram B that I assume will polish out.
